46/365 Jeff

Jeff, who was not a volunteer, lived in the other house apartment with his own phone. He got invited over. We’d spend evenings in the kitchen blaring Prince and talking trash. I can still hear his standard parting admonishment, with slight tremolo: Be good!

Thanks, Deloney--an encouraging word just when I needed it most. And let me say every day you don't post, there's a little sadness here.

Yes, effortless and cool. The sophistication in your writing is humbling.

I wonder sometimes if these posts come to you this way, or if you wrangle them into submission, making the finished product appear effortless (as if they couldn't have been written any other way)?

in any case, they keep me coming back, again and again ... love seeing words that are comfortable in their space
