119/365 Another Katy

She worked as a secretary in the next department. I learned that she’d written some great short stories. She had two children born four years apart to the day. She told me once, quite contentedly, “A woman has children when a dream has died.”

Well, I'm not sure she was completely wrong about this. I think she didn't have children until she'd come to the conclusion that she might not be a famous writer. She was finally ready to put her creative energy elsewhere, and she was an extremely devoted mother.

Being a mom and a not-famous writer, I often wonder if women have children so a dream won't die. What a powerful post! I love it.

BK: Fabulous observation. And I think Katy kept writing when she could.

I started writing more after the kids came. Turned my talents to more comedic writing! Boy do they give me material!
