156/365 NPD

What I learned from all that: Never let someone take advantage of your caretaker instincts. Question any such instinct you detect in yourself. Narcissists, although charming, are capable of changing just one thing: the characters surrounding them as they search for the perfect reflection.

On the other hand, there's an old Lou Reed/Velvet Underground song called "I'll Be Your Mirror" that's very beautiful. I guess it just depends on the person.

D: Beautiful lyrics.

The thing about narcissism, of course, is that we all need a little of it to function, but these NPDers are a tad extreme and always need the reflection to be extremely positive (thus the changing of characters in their lives). For DSM-IV definition (if interested), see:

I know, I need to lighten up.

H, BB: Thanks!

No! We don't want you lightened up. Stay - just the neurotic, insightful, brilliant way you are.
