The registrar-turned-curator acted as my personal docent during those early days of my museum job. No one since has both known and cared so well for the collection. I began making Vermont friends by asking him and his girlfriend to go see
Spalding Gray.
I remember the day I came to visit, and how at 12:15 p.m. everything in the office came to a screeching halt as Jon made sure we all listened to the extended "Eye on the Sky" weather report on Vermont Public Radio.
ReplyDeleteI know very little about Spalding Gray, though I've meant to learn more. This gives me an incentive - if Indigo Bunting recommends something, it's got to be good.
ReplyDeleteSpalding was one of a kind. I really miss him.
