88/365 Ron

When Tim informed Ron that he was in fact listening to the Grateful Dead, Ron was incredulous. How could a band called the Grateful Dead sound like this? Shouldn’t they be heavy metal? To him, the name was an absolute misrepresentation, practically a betrayal.

I thought the same thing about Massive Attack. At least I think it was Massive Attack.

I had to google Crack the Sky. My musical knowledge gets a bit patchy after about 1982.

Does anyone in the U.S. know the Canadian band Arcade Fire?

Deloney, Never heard of Arcade Fire and I consider myself a well rounded musical soul. Tell me about them.

I thought the G.D. had a rather odd name at first too. But that didn't stop me from seeing them 17 times. Saw Jerry solo at the Uptown in Chicago too.

Bootleg tapes anyone?

Arcade Fire are from Montreal. Apparently Bowie is a big fan. They have one CD called "Funeral" and I love it.

Deloney: Crack the Sky pretty obscure and kinda geographical. Don't know Arcade Fire, but I kinda stopped listening to music radio years (and years) ago and go with what people turn me onto. Am now intrigued and will check them out.

Otter: Sigh, no bootlegs here and only saw them ONCE. Jerry died on my parents' wedding anniversary, which was also the anniversary of the day Nixon physically left the White House...What that has to do with anything, I'm not sure.
