277/365 Pam
She was a chubby kid—chubbier than me, even—til suddenly, in eighth grade, she got skinny and began dating one of the most classically cute guys in school. We stopped walking home together, and I never heard Bowie’s “Changes” in her room again.

Note: I am aware of the questionable grammar. It just seemed to work better.
It's an age-old story: one friend gets left behind, the other dates cute guys and finds ground glass in her food one day.
LOL!
This gave me goosebumps and made me very sad. Reminded me of my post about my daughter and her friend Angela.
I hope you owned Bowie's album at least and don't associate that song with her.
Cedar: Oddly I felt more baffled than heartbroken, which must mean we were already drifting a bit. Otter: I own it now!
Great Song! All so typical story behind the post! Reminder of the times someone stopped walking home with me and then... I stopped walking home with someone else...
Beautiful memories no matter which side of the spectrum!
Does grammar really count?
I have been there...on both sides, and I feel worse about being Pam than about the times I was left behind...
