317/365 Anna
Sergio’s wife would invite us to the apartment for home-cooked meals. She spoke no English; we spoke no Italian; Sergio would translate. But Anna understood some English, certainly, and often I was convinced I knew exactly what she was saying. Sometimes I was right.

How long did you stay there and how did you get to know Sergio?
By the way, sorry to use your comment box Indigo to ask somebody else something, but Otter, I've been trying to leave a comment for you for days and I keep getting a message, when I type in my password, that I should double-check it or try again later. I know it's correct, and I have tried again later. Do you know why this is happening? (or does anyone else?)
Helen: For quite a few years, Tim went twice a year to check color at the separator's in Verona. Over the course of 6 or 7 years, I got to go 4 times, for a little more than a week each time (and at someone else's expense!). Truly a gift in my life.
As to this commenting thing, I'm running up against it too and it's totally frustrating. I suspect it has to do with people who have not switched to the updated blogger trying to comment on people who have (but I don't actually know). Being a technophobe, I'm scared to switch over (and I'm on a Mac, which always makes it more complicated, it seems). People who have switched: Was it easy? Is everything fine?
PS to Helen: Sergio was the head of the color separation company in Verona.
I just tried to comment at Otter's and it wouldn't let me. I think Indigo is probably right about the updated blogs. What a piss-off.
The comment problem seems to have been resolved, by the way...
Now I've forgotten what I was going to say.
I just love meeting people in their own environments, and struggling with language, but being brought together by great food. I want to meet Anna and Sergio. (Coincidence - I wrote about a Sergio today too)
Helen: Problem not resolved for me. I have been unable to comment on Dona's blog for days. And if I switch over, who will be blocked from commenting here? Grrr....argh.
Supposedly we can use our blogger passwords or google passwords but it ain't the case for me. Maybe it's a glitch they'll fix.
I switched over and it was relatively painless... EXCEPT when I want to comment on someone's blog who hasn't. Being dyslexic I have enough trouble with the letter verification! I haven't been blocked but, I have to sign in again and for the life of me I have a problem remembering am I blogging or googling or myspacing or HiFiving or Yahooing? I do believe this is life's newest deepest of Life's questions!
Mali: I can't comment on your blog! grrrrrr
Deloney: I set up a google account, but like you, it's not recognizing anything. So frustrating.
BK: Yes, the new Life Questions...
I don't have any problem commenting here ... and I'm on beta (logged on with Google account cos I'm a new user) ... but must be why you can't comment on mine.
