I can be happy for people in these situations if the keep their joy under wraps. If they start rubbing everyone's nose in it, and telling you how this relationship is like none that has ever come before (Not That Anyone Has Ever Said Anything Like That To Me), I tend to side firmly with the ex.
Well stated. Do we know people like that?
I remember two cases rather clearly, and I believe I sided with the exes in both cases.
"my friend who loved you, whether you were right for each other or not." I love that line.
