I was the new kid, and she glommed onto me, welcoming me wholeheartedly. It was months before she told me about the baby she’d had the year before and given up. No one else mentioned it. But almost no one else talked to me.
Inspired by Fat Red Ant, who was inspired by Dan Waber, I am taking up the challenge to write about 365 memorable people whose paths have crossed mine. The form is 44 words, in honor of the number of years spent running into them.

You were probably too scary and hip for anyone to talk to. If I were you I'd track Ernista down and give her a box of chocolates. :-)
Wow. "Scary and hip" sounds way better than "introverted and invisible." Perhaps it can't hurt to rewrite history a little...
