In retirement, he’s become the kind of Christian who acts: representing his church in Mexico, building houses with Habitat for Humanity, helping seniors file tax returns. For himself, he bakes bread, but even that’s something he shares after the joy of watching it rise.

Finest kind.
Baking bread is the ultimate Christian activity.
God is the yeast, The Holy Spirit the aroma of the bread baking and Jesus is the bread (rising again even after getting punched down) and when we eat it; the Eucharist is complete.
Witnessing someone actually putting into the action the act of giving of oneself is always inspirational, and pushes us to do better. If enough people can encourage enough people to act, this world will improve, one kind act at a time.
