works hard to make the unaffordable affordable. First he gave me an interest-free loan. Then he offered payment-based discounts. Best of all, he and his brother put a new foundation under my almost-120-year-old carriage barn. Now I can park two cars in it fear-free.

Oh, a contractor like that is worth his/her weight in gold, or coffee, or oil, or myrrh, or whatever commodity is fetching the highest price these days.

Cedar: It's a great building. Too bad I'm not a person of means. People ask me what I'm going to "do" with it, and all I can say is "Park my cars in it and try to keep it from falling down."
